Lyle Trachtenberg has had quite the interesting life, to say the least. He started his career in real estate at one of the most tumultuous times of our history, and he’s somehow managed to make it out of every situation alive and without losing an eye (or both of them). Born in 1917, he grew up in New York City, with his parents instilling a strong work ethic in him from an early age. His first venture into business was an extremely successful ice cream stand that he bought from his parents when he was just 12 years old!

Lyle Trachtenberg is an investment banker and former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia. Born in 1942, he was raised in Brooklyn before attending Yale University where he graduated with a degree in Economics. After graduation, Mr. Trachtenberg went on to work at Goldman Sachs as an investment banker before being appointed president of the Philadelphia Fed in 1988. His tenure lasted until 2001 when he left to take up his current position as co-chairman for financial institutions at Lazard Ltd, where he has been ever since.
