A few months later, investigators uncovered more bodies buried near the same site. Investigators believe that these bodies belong to other individuals from neighboring counties who were also reported missing over the past decade. Investigators are still trying to identify all of these victims and their causes of death are currently unknown.
However, it is believed that this group of people may have been murdered by the same individual or individuals. When asked about whether this case could be related to another unsolved mystery involving local high school teacher Tara Grinstead, GBI Director Vernon Keenan said: It’s certainly not out of the realm.
The Suspect
Marcus Harper was a man who lived in the small town of Ocilla, Georgia. He owned and operated an auto repair shop and was well-known by the locals. The last time anyone saw him was on October 23rd, 2005 after he left his auto repair shop for a meeting with a customer. When he never showed up for the meeting, people began to get worried and called the police.
What they found was that there had been an altercation outside of the repair shop where it appeared that someone had been shot by a .38 caliber weapon. The police searched all over but couldn’t find any trace of Marcus Harper or his assailant. They also didn’t find any weapons at all except for one bullet casing which they were able to determine belonged to a .38 caliber weapon.

In 2009, a man named Bo Dukes was arrested in connection with the case. He was charged with concealing evidence and hindering apprehension. In 2010, he pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison. In an interview before his arrest, he said that he had seen something happen at night around the time she went missing and that he had found human remains outside his house a few months later which were determined to be animal bones but not hers.

The GBI has been working with the FBI since day one on these cases and they haven’t given up on finding them yet. I really hope she comes back soon. It doesn’t seem like anyone knows where she is, so who knows if we’ll ever see her again.
Tara was such a great person; she was very dedicated to her work and would do anything for the people in her life. She was always smiling and cracking jokes with the kids at school too. One of the kids said they saw Marcus Harper with Tara one day before he disappeared, so now people are wondering if there’s some connection between them.
I’m not sure what would happen to us here in Ocilla without Tara; everyone needs somebody on their side when you’re going through tough times. Even though it sounds crazy, I think it would be great if they were both found safe and sound together somewhere out there together.
