Biography of Nieku Manshadi

Nieku Manshadi was born in Tehran, Iran, in the summer of 1983. The second child of Iranian immigrants, Manshadi and his family moved to the United States when he was just three years old. Nieku Manshadi is an Iranian-American artist, sculptor, and installation artist who explores the relationship between art and social justice. Born in Tehran in 1979, Manshadi moved to the United States in 2001 to pursue her art studies. After receiving her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2004, she went on to receive her MFA from the California College of the Arts in 2009. In her series “IRANIAN.AMERICAN.,” Manshadi explored her own experience as a first-generation immigrant through a series of self-portraits. Nieku Manshadi is a writer, editor, and content strategist. She helps people tell their stories and connect with their audiences. Nieku has worked in publishing for over 10 years. She was an editor at a small press, and she has also worked as a freelance editor and writer. Most recently, she was the Content Director at an online marketing agency.
