Fall Semester 2022 Academic Calendar at JMU
The following is a list of other significant events on the JMU academic calendar for the fall of 2022.
On Monday, April 11, 2022, the first day of registration for the fall semester will begin.
The JMU Move-In Day 2022 for first-year students will begin at 12:00 AM on Friday, August 19, 2022, and will continue until Saturday, August 20, 2022. Read More
Move-in Day for JMU Transfer Students is on Sunday, August 21, 2022, between the hours of 8:00 AM and 12:00 NOON.
The day of move-in for JMU upperclass students is Sunday, August 21, 2022, and continues until Tuesday, August 23, 2022. On Monday and Tuesday of this week, the JMU academic schedule will only allow for restricted move-in hours.
The first day of fall courses at JMU will take place on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.
On Tuesday, September 13, 2022, the university will no longer be able to cancel tuition costs and issue refunds for students who depart from the institution.
The dates for the Family Weekend in 2022 are Friday, September 30th, through Sunday, October 2nd.
The final day of classes for the First Block will take place on Tuesday, October 11, 2022.
The first day of classes for the Second Block will take place on Thursday, October 13, 2022. It is the last day that applications can be submitted for a Master’s, Ed.S., or Doctoral degree if the criteria are to be satisfied for graduation in May or August of 2023.
On Tuesday, October 18, 2022, grades for the first half of the semester are due in the Office of the Registrar. According to the JMU academic calendar, students are required to turn in their grades for First Block courses at the Office of the Registrar on the same day.
The dates for JMU’s Fall Break in 2022 are Wednesday, October 12th, through Friday, October 14th.
The dates of Homecoming 2022 are as follows: Friday the 21st, Saturday the 22nd, and Sunday the 23rd of October 2022.
The Thanksgiving holiday will start the next day, on Wednesday, November 19, 2022.
The first day back in school will be November 28th, 2022.
The final day of courses will take place on Friday, December 9, 2022.
The date range for the final test is Saturday, December 10 through Friday, December 16, 2022.
The cutoff date for December graduates to have finished all of their required coursework is the 16th of December in 2022.
The December Commencement Ceremony will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
Monday, December 19, 2022 at 3:00 p.m. is the deadline for submitting grades for regular semester courses and second block courses to the Office of the Registrar.
2023 Winter Session at JMU
The following is a list of other significant dates from the academic calendar for the winter session of 2023 at JMU. Attendance is voluntary for both students and faculty.
Classes for both the one-week and two-week iterations of the winter session begin on the day that was originally set for Monday, January 2, 2023.
The final tests for Winter Session 1 will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023.
On Monday, January 9, 2023, students return to the classroom for the third and final week of the winter session.
Grades are due for the Winter Session 1 of the course on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.
The final exams for both Winter Sessions 2 and 3 will be held on Friday, January 13, 2023.
On Tuesday, January 17, 2023, grades for the winter session’s second and third weeks are due.
Academic schedule for the spring semester of 2023 for JMU
The following is a list of other significant days that appear on the academic calendar for the spring semester of 2023 at JMU.
On Monday, November 7, 2022, the first day of registration for the spring semester of 2023 will begin.
The holiday honouring Martin Luther King, Jr., will be observed on Monday, January 16, 2023.
The first day of classes for the Spring 2023 semester at JMU will be on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.
The deadline to withdraw from the institution and receive a tuition fee cancellation as well as a refund is February 7, 2023, which is a Tuesday. Evaluation of Students and Help from the Faculty (no classes 8 a.m.–4 p.m.) Evening classes, defined as those that start at 4 p.m. or later, continue to meet as regularly planned.
The final day of classes for the First Block will be March 7, 2023.
On Friday, March 10, 2023, grades for the first half of the semester are due in the Office of the Registrar.
JMUThe week of March 13 to March 17, 2023, is designated as spring break for the school year 2023.
The first day back in school will be on Monday, March 20, 2022.
The beginning of classes for the Second Block will take place on Monday, March 20, 2023.
On Tuesday, March 21, 2023, students are required to turn in their first block course grades to the Office of the Registrar.
If the criteria for graduation are to be fulfilled in December 2023, the application deadline for a Master’s, Ed.S., or Doctoral degree is Wednesday, April 12, 2023. Applications will no longer be accepted after that date. Candidates for graduation in May 2023 are expected to submit academic works as well as the results of comprehensive assessments by the deadline.
The final day of school for the spring semester 2023 will take place on Thursday, May 4, 2023.
The last examination will take place beginning on Friday, May 5, 2023 and ending on Thursday, May 11, 2023.
The 11th of May in 2023 is the cutoff date for May grads to have finished all of their required coursework.
The commencement ceremonies will take place beginning on Thursday, May 11, 2023 and continuing through Saturday, May 13, 2023.
The deadline for submitting grades for regular semester courses and second block courses to the Office of the Registrar is Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 3:00 p.m.
The academic schedule for the summer session at JMU in 2022
The following is a list of other significant dates from the academic calendar for the summer semester of 2022 at JMU.
On Monday, March 28, 2022, the beginning of advance registration for the 2022 summer session will take place.
On Monday, May 16, 2022, the first day of the summer session that lasts for one week will begin.
On Friday, May 20, 2022, you will have your final exam for the one-week session.
The first day of courses lasting twelve weeks, ten weeks, eight weeks, six weeks (one), four weeks (one), and two weeks (one) will occur on Monday, May 23, 2022.
Monday, May 30 is the Memorial Day Holiday.
The first day of the two-week session is going to be on Monday, June 6th, 2022.
On Friday, June 17, 2022, you will have your final test for both the four-week (one) and the two-week (two) sessions.
The Juneteenth holiday will fall on Monday, June 20, 2022.
The first day of the eight-week (two) and four-week (two) sessions will take place on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
On Friday, July 1, 2022, there will be a final test for the session that lasted six weeks.
On the Monday that falls on the Fourth of July 2022, there will be no lessons.
The first day of the six-week (two) session is going to be on Tuesday, July 5, 2022.
On Wednesday, July 13, 2022, candidates for graduation in August 2022 are required to submit the results of the Comprehensive Assessment as well as scholarly documents.
On Friday, July 15, 2022, you will have your final test for both the eight-week (one) and four-week (two).
On Friday, July 29, 2022, you will have the final test for the ten-week session.
Summer grads have until midnight (local time) on Friday, August 12, 2022 to finish their coursework and graduate.
On Friday, August 12, 2022, you will have your final test for the six-week (two), eight-week (two), and twelve-week sessions.
The CLN session will officially begin the next day, on Monday, August 15, 202.
The CLN final test and the final day of the CLN summer session will both take place on Tuesday, August 23, 2022.
